There are many pros and cons to your child having a cell phone. There is peace of mind when your child has a cell phone, it allows you to be more connected with them when you’re apart. It gives you the opporotunity to contact them at any given time and vise versa. Along with peace of mind, comes the worry from a parent questioning “is my child safe” with inappropriate web content, cyber bullying to screen time addiction.
Luckily, communication and supervision can dramatically lessen the risks. How?
Understanding the 3 C’s:
- Contact: Does your child know the person they are friending on social media?
- Content: Is the content your child is watching/engaging in appropriate for their age?
- Conduct: Is your child being bullied or bullying others while being online?
Speaking to your child ahead of time about the 3 C’s and being present daily will be beneficial for all parties.

This month at Caring Nannies we have been celebrating Adoption Month. November is Adoption Month and is meant for bringing awareness to children in need of homes/families and children currently in foster care.
This wonderful returning family of ours is seeking a mature, patient, active, professional nanny to care for their 2 youngest children, a 3 year old girl and a 6 month old baby boy for a flexible full-time schedule of M-F from 8AM – 4PM. They have a 6 year old daughter who is in full-time school so primary care is for the preschooler and infant. When Mom travels the schedule will be 7:30AM-5:30PM (typically once a month and in the spring it is twice a month) The 6 year old is in full-time kindergarten and Mom drops her off and picks her up so nanny would only be needing to drop her off and pick her up when Mom is traveling and unavailable. The 3 year old goes to preschool on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:15AM-12:45PM so drop off and pick up will be needed and primary care is for the baby on those 3 days. The 6 month old is starting to sit up; attempting to crawl to keep up with his sisters and he’s the happiest baby on the planet. All he does is smile and giggle and is going to be quite active in the coming months. He is on solid foods and Mom makes all his baby food so assisting Mom in making baby food is needed. Mom is working from home or in meetings when she is not traveling and will definitely be present and interacting and actively participating with the children so nanny must be comfortable with a parent at home. It is as much a nanny position as it is a domestic/ family assistant position; help with organizing and grocery shopping; preparing lunches and prepping dinner is needed. The girls are involved in tennis twice a week and swimming once a week. Their current nanny is one of our nannies and she has been with the family since Feb 2016 and it was great but she is leaving to attend school. Both girls are incredibly active, and they love to play outside and do arts and crafts and lots of creative activities. Important qualities is a nanny who communicates well and is very safety-conscious as well as creative, active, and patient. Nanny would be in charge of light house keeping mainly pertaining to the kids. Tidy their rooms and play room, clean up after meals and do children’s laundry once a week. Would like nanny to encourage girls to clean up after themselves too. They have a weekly housekeeper for deep cleaning. Again schedule is M-F from 8AM-4PM. Mom does travel for work and when she is traveling the nanny is needed 7:30AM-5:30PM. Mom knows her schedule a month in advance. Car is provided to transport children and kids love to go to zoo and to train park and other fun outings. Pets: 1 dog. Compensation: $15-$17/hr and family is open to either gross or net. Adorable, sweet 4 week old twin newborn girls are in need of a caring, reliable nanny with excellent newborn experience to care for them 3 days a week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8AM-3PM with flexibility. The babies were born 4 weeks early and are doing well, but Mom needs assistance getting the babies on a routine from an experienced nanny. Inspite being born early, both of the babies are a little over 5-pounds now. One baby does have a heart murmur and has visits to the cardiologist regularly, but overall, they are both healthy baby girls. Mom is pumping and supplementing so they both babies take bottles well. The family does have a 3 year old daughter as well who attends preschool during the day, so the nanny will not need to care for her unless there is a day the preschool is closed or she is sick. Mom is home during the day or will be in and out. No driving and no travel is needed. No pets. A night shift can be added if nanny has the availability to assist with the babies at night one night a week. The family can be flexible with the nanny’s schedule but the 3 day schedule of MTW is ideal. Mom’s sister-in-law assists with caring for the girls on the other days. They have a casual atmosphere in their home and the ideal nanny is loving and patient with twin experience or experience caring for multiple children close in age. Great full-time opportunity for a nanny / household manager with a servant’s heart who is extremely proactive, has excellent attention to detail, and takes great initiative to divide and conquer the needs of a large, busy, professional household. Both parents have extremely busy professions and they have 2 wonderful daughters, ages 4 years old and 6 months old. Dad works long hrs and travels for business and Mom works from her home office and takes on a large load so they are in need of a proactive team player who can jump in and assist in whatever capacity is needed to keep their household running smoothly. Mom is a self-proclaimed Type A personality who likes to do it all and she wants to spend as much time engaging and interacting with her daughters as possible so often what is needed is help to upkeep the orderliness, organization and maintenance of their 6500 square foot home. The family likes to host and entertain so help with the children is needed during events while the parents are tending to their guests. They like to keep their home in pristine condition and they cook all organic and have a housekeeper who comes 3 days a week for the deep cleaning and laundry. However the daily tasks like putting groceries away, washing and cutting up vegetables to prep for meals, making lunches the night before, picking up after dinner while Mom enjoys time with the girls after cooking is what is most helpful for this family. They enjoy quality family time at the end of the day and need to have everything accomplished, in order and prepped for the next day by the day’s end in order to enjoy their family time. More household management is needed than nannying so it is important to be efficient and experienced in running a household. Mondays are not needed. The schedule is Tues, Wed, and Fri from 11:30AM – 8:30PM. Thursdays are the longest days from 8AM-6PM. Then occasional Saturdays are needed for a 6 – 8 hr shift if they are hosting or entertaining. (typically once a month). The 4 year old girl attends preschool on MWF from 8:30AM – noon and Mom takes her to school unless she is traveling. She has a big personality and loves dolls and dress up and all thinks girly and sparkly. The 6 month old baby girl is adopted and is very happy and has a perfect temperament. She is sitting up, rolling all across the room, and will be crawling very soon. Caring for these 2 adorable girls is needed but Mom also stays very much involved and likes to be as hands-on as possible with them so this role would include such things as: loading up Mom’s car while she’s saying bye to the girls or helping in the kitchen while Mom is playing with them, taking care of bath time while parents decompress after dinner, etc. They are a very giving, loving family who like to make those who work fro them feel a part of the family. Must be a go-getter and excellent at multi-tasking and juggling multiple hats in order to keep up with this fast-paced household. Car is provided for errands or children’s classes. Possible travel twice a year may be desired. Pet: 1 5 lb sweet Yorkie. Compensation: $15-$20/hr Interviewing ASAP, (REF#SNSS)
