SCOTTSDALE AZ, July 18, 2008 Caring Nannies is now offering a four hour training class for all the nannies that are referred out. The class is four hours long, taught by the Caring Nannies staff, and is an extra element in the screening process provided. The class if free and mandatory, held three mornings per month at the Old Town Scottsdale office. Before being accepted into the class, the nannies have already filled out a five page application, had a personal interview, had references checked, completed a child safety quiz, a child knowledge quiz and given proof of auto insurance. They must have two years of childcare experience outside of friends and family to be accepted.
The Nanny career is one of the most rewarding careers available, but the position has many tricky situations the Nanny needs to navigate to be successful. Confidentiality, for example, is key to maintaining trust in a relationship, but especially in a private home, where the Nanny becomes part of the family. Communication styles can augment a childs self esteem and engender teamwork in the Family/Nanny relationship. There are unprecedented opportunities for professional growth in personal relationships, creativity, communication, skills of multitasking, organizing and most needful, curriculum development in this exciting and satisfying career. But, it isnt for everyone. So, during this class, we put some very realistic situations on the table, so Nannies can walk into a job knowing both what is expected of them, and situations they may be presented with.
A Nanny with seven years experience remarked that the class was very helpful. Caring Nannies goal is to help Nannies find the position best suited for them, have the tools to engender positive, satisfying relationships, and stay long term. The first three months are crucial to learning the routine, communicating effectively, sharpening skills, and developing a team mentality via scheduled meetings with the parents. The goal is for the Nanny to feel highly motivated to stay long term, build strong relationships, and be wholeheartedly committed to the goals of the family.
This class, inaugurated in June of 2008, strengthens Caring Nannys goals of treasuring Arizonas children and undergirding families. Caring Nannies is celebrating its 25th year of serving children and families. The Corporation is family owned and operated, with Beth Weise, CEO and owner, Erika Frazer as Client coordinator, and Jamie Weise the Nanny Recruiter. They bring over three decades of combined experience actually working as Nannies and Baby Nurses in the field.
